For those who are unaware, HMC was based on a book with the same title written several (as in I'm not quite sure how many) years ago by a British (correct me if I'm wrong) authoress by the name of Dianna Wynne Jones. She is an awesome writer and the book was one of my childhood favorites (I once read the entire book every night for two months straight). So I was wondering, for those who have both read the book and seen the movie, which did you prefer? Personally, I really couldn't choose between them, but I know people who do like one more than the other.

I knew it was a book, and I wanted to buy it, but I was broke at the time and didn't get it Books are almost always better than the movie, but maybe Miyazaki would change that! ^_^

It's a children's book, written for younger kids, but still entertaining if you don't happen to be one.
The book and movie are very different, and they're both really...for lack of a better adjective, magical.

Very much so ;D
Well, it's pretty popular in America, I don't know whether it originated here or in England. Probably England, Europe gets all the cool stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Japanese version somewhere.

I will...but beware, you get my version.
Basically, this frumpy girl Sophie gets put under a fat witch's spell. Then she runs away and saves a bouncy scarecrow. It leads her to the castle of a SHMEXY wizard named Howl who is rumored to eat girls' hearts. Cast also includes a little boy who, because of Engrish, is named Markle (no fair! Michael was supposed to get it on with Sophie's hot sister!) and a dog with asthma. And a lot of bird-ish-things. And thats about it. Poor Justin.
See it, it's amazing! Read the book first!

Actually, I didn't want to give away the plot to those who hadn't read it. So I called him bouncy. They're basically one and the same.
